Raqesh Bapat was born on 1st September 1978; he was born and brought up in Amravati. Raqesh by profession is a model and actor. His real name is Rakesh Vashisht. He did his primary schooling in Amravati itself and then went on to do his MBA from Mumbai University.

Raqesh's father was in the Army and his mother was a school principal, he also has a sister Sheetal Bapat.

Raqesh was earlier married to actress Ridhi Dogra, both met on the sets of a television show and became friends, and after working with each other they fell in love. After dating each other for a while, at his sister's request, he proposed to Ridhi, and they got married in 2011. But after 7 years of being married in 2019, they ended their marriage and gave out a public statement saying that they were living separately and the decision was mutual, and they both still respect each other a lot. They legally separated and divorced in 2020.

Raqesh started his career as an actor with the movie "Tum Bin" in 2001, he got the movie after the director's wife of the movie noticed Raqesh in an advertisement and suggested her Wife to vast him. He was after that seen in 2002 in the movie "Dil Vil Pyaar Vyaar". In 2003 he did the movie "Tumse Milke Wrong Number", in 2004 he was seen in "Kaun Hai Jo Sapno Mein Aya" and in 2005 he did the movie "Koi Mere Dil Mein Hai".

In 2005, he also made his debut as an actor in television shows. He began his career on television with the show "Saat Phere: Saloni Ka Safar", he did this show from 2005 to 2008. In 2008 he was then seen in the show "Ek Packet Ummed". In 2010 he did the show "Seven – The Ashvamedha Prophecy". From 2010 to 2012 he did the show "Maryada: Lekin Kab Tak" and in 2011 he was seen in "Simply Sapney" and in 2012 he made a comeback on the big screen after 6 years of acting in television shows. After his comeback, he did many Hindi and Marathi films like "Heroine" and "Aayna ka Bayna".

Along with acting in movies, he also continued to act in television shows. After doing movies like "Heroine", "Aayna ka Bayna", "Gippi", "Vrundavan", and "Savita Damodar Paranjpe" he also did TV shows like "Hongey Judaa Na Hum", "Qubool Hai", "Bahu Hamari Rajni Kant", "Tu Aashiqui" and many more.
