Popular bhajan singer Narendra Chanchal (16 October 1940 - 22 January 2021) passed away today in Delhi. He was India's one of the greatest bhajan singers the country has ever produced. He was ill for a long time and died in Apollo Hospital in Delhi at 12:15 p.m.
According to his concert organiser, Sanjay Malik, Chanchal was unwell for the last three months. He was undergoing treatment. He told that Chanchal's cause of death was age-related issues.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has also mourned his death.

Narender Chanchal famous Bollywood song Beshak Mandir Masjid for the film Bobby won him Filmfare Best Male Playback Award.
He had also earned honorary citizenship of the US state of Georgia.

Narendra Chanchal was born in a religious Punjabi family in Namak Mandi, Amritsar on October 16, 1940. He grew up in a religious atmosphere which inspired him to start singing bhajans and aartis.
It is said that Narendra was quite naughty during his school days and he was playful in nature, due to which his teachers used to call him Chanchal. Later Narendra had made Chanchal part of his name.
