Leaf Wearables, a company in Delhi has won the XPrize competition and walked with $1 million. In 2016, Anu Jain and Naveen Jain, who are also the co-founders of InfoSpace had started the XPrize competition. Their main aim to start out this competition was to encourage technical developments which can help benefit the people around the world.
This year, XPrize wants the innovators from the world to focus on a device which can be used for women's safety. Like, a device which can be used by women's when they are in a remote place, or can share location with their guardians and the main KEY POINT for this prize was, the alert should be send in less than 90 seconds and the prize should be below $40.
The device looks like a watch, and will use 2G, 3G and 4G networks to send the emergency signals. The device when full charged, can work for three days straight, and seven days when on standby mode.
"We have been working tirelessly to solve the problem of safety using technology. It has been our mission to make one billion families safer. The Anu & Naveen Jain Women's Safety XPRIZE gave us the incentive and focus to continue to work toward our mission and make the world a safer place to live, learn and work."
